A smart mattress topper that retrofits to a community profiling bed & uniquely turns people without human assistance, more safely than is possible by human hands.
Disrupted sleep not only exacerbates existing conditions, but lack of movement significantly increases the risk of pressure sores and is the NHS’s single most chronic wound.
This is the reality for an estimated 100 million people worldwide, many of whom rely on family members or professional carers to reposition them in bed. Getting in and out of bed presents another major challenge. It requires considerable effort from the user and places a significant physical burden on carers and family members, increasing their risk of injury.
At the same time, healthcare systems globally, including the NHS, are under more pressure than ever. With an ageing population and a shortage of trained professionals, the demand for manual repositioning is becoming unsustainable. One study suggests, in the UK alone, by 2035 there will be an additional 440,000 people requiring care, while at the same time frame 440,000 carers will reach retirement age.
Patent pending turn method, which turns users ‘like a hug’ away from the edge of the bed ensuring safety and comfort for the user
Assists users in and out of bed at the touch of a button - removing the need for a carer if the user is able, or removing the physical burden of assisting a user into bed if a carer is required.
Safely turns a user to a side lying position and supports them in this position to allow personal care in bed. This means this task can be carried out by a single carer or family member safely and easily, significantly reducing risk to the user or carer.
